Rowan University’s Newly Launched MSW Deepens Students’ Opportunities to Help Others Through Their Careers
While it might seem like a narrow focus, helping individual people, Human Services* has a direct and wide impact on entire communities.
After pursuing nursing, Dimirra Brown decided to go back to college at Rowan University. She began to realize that the competitiveness of nursing was not an environment she wanted to see herself in. Through moments of intimidation and worry, she found exactly where she belonged.
If you can’t save everybody, you can at least save one.
Dimirra began to feel fulfilled within her career, as she began impacting others lives in a way that was least expected. To Dimarra, human services comes naturally with her, as she continues to build connections with others. Through adversity and resilience, she has found a career where she can be herself, while serving as an activist to help others lead a better life. She feels that Rowan gave her a second chance to find a path to success within the healthcare field, serving as a listening learner and inspiration to those around her.
*To meet the needs of communities and students alike, Rowan University streamlined its human services’ offerings. New students interested in human services-focused careers will earn either a bachelor’s degree in social work or a master’s degree in social work (MSW).
