Today we feature incoming transfer student Mallory Harris. Mallory will be living on campus and studying Marketing. She is from Havre de Grace, MD and transferring from Harford Community College.
Welcome to Rowan! Could you share with us one thing you are looking forward at Rowan University?
I am most looking forward to meeting new people, making lifelong friends, getting involved in extracurricular activities and enjoying the campus life.
What is one hobby, activity, sport or club that you’re involved in that you’d like to continue at Rowan?
I don’t have many hobbies, but I would like to use my time spent at Rowan to find some!
Is there anything you’re hoping to discover about yourself at Rowan?
I am hoping to get involved in several different clubs/activities offered at Rowan. I would also like to find at least one organization that I can volunteer with. In addition, I would like to take time to learn how to cook.
What majors are you considering and why?
I am majoring in Business Marketing because I never knew exactly what I wanted to do in life. I do know that I have always had an interest in the business field. I feel that this gives me the most flexibility and opportunity to find a job I will enjoy.
Did you tour Rowan or attend any virtual events?
I had a private campus tour of Rowan in March. Before the tour, I had visited the campus several times because I have friends that already attend the school. Every time I was there, it felt like home. It felt like the place I am supposed to be. The campus is beautiful and The Boulevard is my favorite place. I love the people and the whole environment at Rowan.
Do you have advice for other transfers who haven’t committed to a school yet?
If you are having trouble making up your mind, I would say pick the place that feels like home. My first time being at Rowan, I got that feeling; and I was just there to visit friends. Having that feeling about the school allows you to feel excitement for your next two years. It is a wonderful feeling.
What is one thing about Rowan itself that you liked?
One thing I liked about Rowan itself is the business program and the amount of opportunity that they offer with this. It is clear that they want all of their students to succeed, and I am already receiving daily emails about so many different career fairs, activities and more.
If you are from out of state, why did you choose a university not in your home state?
I always knew that I wanted to get out of my home state of Maryland. There is so much to offer outside of the area that we all grew up in! Not only did I love everything about Rowan University, it is only about an hour away from my house. It’s a good enough distance away that I will be able to meet all new people from different places, but also not too far that I can always visit back home.
