Today, we speak with Arash GhasemiNejad, a recent graduate with a biological sciences bachelor’s degree from Washington Township, NJ (Gloucester County) who now lives in Voorhees, NJ. Arash will share his #PROFspective with us on what it was like to be a Rowan University student and how he got the most out of his college experience as a Rowan Prof.
Degree: Biological Sciences
Year: 2018 spring graduate
Hometown and county: Washington Township, (Gloucester County). I lived in Iran from second grade to freshmen year in high school.
Commuter: Yes
Transfer: Yes, from Rowan College at Gloucester County
Academic clubs: Biology Club
Why did you chose your major: At first, I wanted to do research, but then I had a change of heart when I started getting into fitness. So I tied together my passion of bodybuilding and powerlifting with my major or biology because it’s all about the body.
Why did you chose Rowan: Perfect size, closer to home, and I had a lot of friends who went here and loved it.
My typical day as a Rowan student was: I would wake up and get ready for the day. I either had early morning or late afternoon classes. So I’d go to class and always hit the gym after. It’s super easy to commute and still be a part of the Rowan community. I really love the fitness center, but they don’t have a pool, so I love going to the Rec for the pool! I have made so many friends at the gym, it’s become my second home. I got inspired by watching others, and it changed my mind to want to become a personal trainer. I think I may come back to Rowan to major in athletic training because I’ve heard such great things and it’s want I want to do.
In the meantime, I like to vlog and make videos fitness related. Right now I’m working at Amazon, taking my tests to become a personal trainer, although I think I want to get the degree also to have a better resume and more knowledge. My time at Rowan was irreplaceable and I would love to make more memories and embrace the atmosphere just one more time.
I try to keep in touch with all my friends from Rowan and it’s quite easy being local cause I’m still around. Overall, I really miss college, and everyone should embrace it while they’re here. I miss being a student. Those times are some of the best years of your life. Do not take it for granted.
