Something many Rowan students know all too well: spending hours in the library working on an assignment, to finally look up, check the time, and realize it is way past cafeteria hours.
You may feel that all hope is lost at this point and your empty, growling belly can never be satisfied. But luckily, Rowan has some meal and snack options open past midnight just for students. If you’re a night owl on the search for some serious night time snacking, consider visiting the following places, plus, all these spots accept meal swipes or Rowan Bucks!
RAH (Rowan After Hours)
If there are two things every college student enjoys, it’s free stuff and, of course, food. Combine those two, and Rowan’s got you covered with a range of free food every week during Rowan After Hours (RAH) events. Swipe into any RAH event on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays in the Chamberlain Student Center Pit with your Rowan ID and make your way over to the midnight food bar.
Almost every RAH event has different and delicious options for you night owls to munch on provided by Gourmet Dining. There has been nachos, chicken fingers, empanadas, pulled-pork sandwiches, spaghetti and meatballs, breakfast burritos, mocktails and more. The list goes on and on! Follow The Rowan Office of Student Activities on Twitter, @RowanOSA, to keep up with upcoming RAH events and to find out what mouth-watering food to expect at the midnight food bar.
Prof’s Place
Another option for nighttime snacking is Grill Nation and Jersey Mike’s at Prof’s Place, located on the ground floor of the Chamberlain Student Center. Grill Nation has been my go-to post library meal of choice since my first year at Rowan. Whenever I leave the library after a late night study sesh, the smell of crispy fries and juicy burgers immediately draws me in. After a night of studying, don’t we all deserve to indulge in some deep-fried goodness?
Grill Nation has all the classics including burgers, chicken fingers, French fries, grilled cheese and sometimes, even pancakes! Not in the mood for these? Try a fresh sub from Jersey Mike’s, just a few steps to the right of Grill Nation. Jersey Mike’s opened in 2015 and has been a Prof favorite ever since. There are customizable subs and some hot sandwich options available, like cheesesteaks and chicken cheesesteaks. Don’t forget to get your sub Mike’s way, with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, an olive oil blend, red wine vinegar and spices.
The next time you think you are out of options for a late night meal, head over to the Student Center!
