Today we welcome first year student Lizzie Schmidheiser who will begin studying Secondary Math Education in the fall. Lizzie will commute from Washington Township, NJ (Gloucester County) and attends Washington Township High School.
Welcome to Rowan! Could you share with us one thing you are looking forward in college?
I am looking forward to meeting new friends and getting involved at Rowan.
What is one hobby, activity, sport or club you were a part of in high school that you’d like to continue in college?
I am currently involved in dance at school and outside of school at my dance studio. I hope to continue dancing in college at Rowan.
Is there anything you’re hoping to discover about yourself in college?
I am hoping to build new friendships and become involved with clubs that I have never necessarily considered before college.
What majors are you considering and why?
I am majoring in Secondary Math Education in hopes to become a middle school math teacher. I am also considered getting my Special Education degree to increase my knowledge in other areas of teaching. I have always enjoyed teaching and want to make an impact on students’ lives in the future.
Did you tour Rowan?
I did a campus tour of Rowan last year and loved everything about the campus and the opportunities Rowan offers to their students.
Do you have advice for other high school seniors who haven’t committed to a school yet?
I would say not to let anyone influence your decision and what pathway you want to take. It is your future and you should do it how you want.
What is one thing about Rowan itself that you liked?
I loved the campus and atmosphere when walking around. I also like how easy it is to get involved at Rowan. There is something for everyone on campus.
Like what you see?
