Today we speak to Joseph Soto, a junior Inclusive Elementary Education major from Riverdale, NJ (Morris County). He transferred from Passaic County Community College and talks about his time and transition to Rowan.

How has a faculty or staff member here helped to connect you with the next step for your career?

An admissions counselor came to my community college’s college fair. He really inspired me to come to Rowan!

Tell us about your transition into Rowan.

I was scared at first, but it was a good scared. It was my first time living by myself away from home. The first few weeks were rough, I did not have any friends at the time. I eventually saw an email to join a Group Me chat with transfer students. I join this group and I made so many new friends instantly! This is my second semester at Rowan, and I pretty much see most of those people on a regular basis.

How was transferring to Rowan the right choice for you?

Rowan had exactly what I looking for! Not a huge campus, small class sizes, easy to get around. Rowan is a good school for education majors.

Could you share with us a little bit about how you socialize at Rowan?

With my friends we go out to eat on Rowan Boulevard. Sometimes we hang out at each other’s places. We like to eat at the Student Center.
