Paul sits at a desk studying on his laptop.

Today, we hear from Paul Parker, a senior biological sciences major  commuter student from Cedarville, NJ (Cumberland County.)

What summer class(es) are you taking?

Dinosaurs and Their World (GEOL 01110)

What are the benefits of taking summer classes?

They’re definitely a good way to get any electives or required courses out of the way fast.

What kind of flexibility does taking summer classes offer?

The flexibility offered is that they’re completely online with pre-recorded lectures that allow you to study at your own time of the day if you have work or other commitments.

What are the main differences between taking classes during a fall or spring semester and summer? The big difference for summer courses is the fact they’re online and at an accelerated pace.

How have summer classes helped you as a student and in your academic career?

They definitely have helped me in the time management department as well as studying independently.

What kind of class do you recommend students take over the summer?

I recommend Rowan Core and Rowan Experience courses in the summer as they’re mandatory for your degree. You also don’t want to take major courses online as you’re gonna need input from your professor and an online course that can make that more challenging because you take the course on your own time.

Do you have any advice for students interested in taking summer classes?

Be proactive and check Canvas every single day for deadlines.
