Share an “a ha!” moment you’ve had within your major that made you feel passionate about your intended field.

Coming into Rowan I had a very different intended career path. I changed majors from Biology to Nutrition with the goal now of becoming a Registered Dietitian. I had thought I wanted to have a career in medical research but after taking a few classes in the Nutrition major I knew that this was a better fit for my interests and passion. The courses I have taken, clubs I’m involved in and people I have met through the Health Exercise Science department have really helped me confirm I made the right decision to pursue a major in Nutrition/Dietetics.

Describe for us an experience you’ve shared with a professor in which you felt like you were working with a visionary in your field.

Dance has always been a big part of my life since I first started at 3 years old. I knew I wanted to continue through college which is why I chose to double major. This past semester I was cast in the Dance mainstage show, Beloved Community, and had the opportunity to work with Professor Dawn Marie Bazemore. I have been inspired and motivated  as a dancer since taking my first modern class with her. Since it was my last performance as dance major at Rowan, I was so grateful to have had that experience of working with her.

Could you share a moment you’ve experienced in which you have felt that Rowan is a welcoming environment for you?

It is almost impossible to not meet someone new every day at Rowan, especially through classes and clubs. I love that because my majors are so different, I have had the opportunity to meet some of my closest friends through separate interests.

Why did you choose Rowan?

I chose Rowan for its recognized academic programs and opportunities that could be offered for both of my majors. Despite growing up and living so close to campus, I’m thankful to have had the opportunity to live at school all four years to get a full college experience while still being close enough to go home when I want. I am so glad I chose Rowan because of the lifelong friends and educational experiences this school has presented me with.

What’s your favorite thing about your typical Monday at Rowan?

Mondays are typically one of my busiest days of the week which is always a challenge coming off the weekend and jumping back into class and work. I start my day early by going to the gym at 7 am before a full day of classes and work at my job on campus. I like Mondays because my schedule is a combination of classes between both majors, so it makes the day go by a little quicker. I like Mondays because I am done by 4:45 and have a chance to work on homework and sometimes even catch a couple episodes of The Office before going to Dance Team practice at night. Monday tends to be my longest day but I love that my schedule is so full and gives a great, fresh start to the week!
