Today we feature Jasmine Regal, a senior Sports Communications major with a Strategic Communications minor. Jasmine is involved with The Whit, We are One Team , intramural soccer and softball. Jasmine is from East Rutherford, NJ (Bergen County) and transferred to Rowan from Bergen Community College.
What wakes you up in the morning?
Before I came to Rowan I was lacking discipline; now, I wake up in the morning excited to have a scheduled day. I’m interning at the NFL Alumni Association thanks to a recommendation from Mr. Hartman. I love being there and learning how to be a professional in an organization such as the NFL. I feel like this is truly where I belong, I already feel like I’ve been working there for years.
Everyday I have a plan of what I’m going to be working on, with who, where and when. I’ve always gotten up whenever I wanted and just played the day by ear. Now I feel organized and well put together, and I love how it makes me feel about myself.

How would you tell a fellow student interested in your major that they’re choosing a worthwhile field?
Being a Sports Communications major is the best decision I’ve made. The courses are not your everyday courses where you just see a PowerPoint and hear lectures. We work on group projects, we spend class having discussions about topics we’re actually interested in and enjoy talking about. We have guest speakers and opportunities to network with actual professionals from the sports industry.
Could you share with us one moment that made you feel inspired or confident that you’re in the right field for you?
I found my self always answering questions in class and speaking with my professors during our lessons that it almost felt like I was the only student in the room. I loved everything we discussed that I found my professors always saying “Can anyone besides Jasmine contribute please?”
My first semester here I made the dean’s list. I loved my courses and understood everything we were taught that it felt like getting any grade besides an A was impossible.

What has been one aspect of Rowan that you’ve enjoyed so far, OR one happy thing about Rowan that surprised you?
Just being on campus and seeing everyone walking to class or the Student Center or where ever they may be going, it’s just our little community and it feels great being a part of it. It’s something I’ve never experienced before and honestly you can’t find that feeling anywhere else, it’s truly one of a kind.
How was transferring to Rowan the right choice for you?
Rowan is only a two-hour drive from my hometown that I can visit my family whenever I want yet still have my own life here. It’s also great to be involved in a new major that’s rapidly growing here at rowan.
